The Wittliff Collections brings together veteran music journalist Peter Blackstock and legendary Texas musician Bob Livingston for a special afternoon event to celebrate and discuss their brand new, must-read books: “Old No. 1 at 50: A History of Guy Clark’s First Album” and “Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir,” respectively.

Blackstock has written about the Texas music scene for decades and is best known as cofounder of No Depression magazine and former senior staff music writer at the Austin American-Statesman. His new work gives an inside look at revered singer-songwriter Guy Clark’s enduring and influential 1975 debut album.

Livingston, one of the original cosmic cowboys, is cofounder of the Lost Gonzo Band, which backed Michael Martin Murphey and Jerry Jeff Walker in their early 1970s heyday. Livingston, who plays electric bass, piano, guitar and mandolin, contributed to such elemental and beloved albums as “¡Viva Terlingua!” and “Ridin’ High” with Walker and “Geronimo’s Cadillac” and “Cosmic Cowboy Souvenir” with Murphey.

Storytelling, new insights and maybe a little music are in store.

Music curator Hector Saldana will moderate the discussion. Books will be available for sale.
