James E Crisp

Historian James E. Crisp is the author of Sleuthing the Alamo: Davy Crockett's Last Stand and Other Mysteries of the Texas Revolution (New York: Oxford University Press). [History Book Club featured selection; Winner of the T. R. Fehrenbach Book Award for 2005 from the Texas Historical Commission] and How Did Davy Die? And Why Do We Care So Much? [co-authored with Dan Kilgore] (College Station: Texas A&M University Press). He is Emeritus Professor of History at North Carolina State University.

Majority of the collection consists of correspondence with peers and readers of his works; awards such as The CHASS Award; reviews of Crisp’s and other’s works; legal documents concerning Denise McVea suing Crisp over reviews of Making Myth of Emily: Emily West de Zavala and the Yellow Rose of Texas Legend.
