Lázaro Blanco...y Negro

Perfection by Lázaro Blanco

SUMMER 2000
LÁZARO BLANCO .... Y NEGRO and OLD FAVORITES / NEW FINDS
SOUTHWESTERN & MEXICAN PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTION

At left, Virtual, This exhibit highlights the works of Lázaro Blanco, the distinguished Mexican photographer, and presents a selection of classic favorite images from the Wittliff's inaugural show as well as a number of exciting photographs from the Southwest and Mexico.

Lázaro Blanco describes his works as “...not only tangible fragments of [people’s] own existence, but also of their illusions and dreams of events which may never come to pass....” An innovator who builds on the traditions established by the great school of Mexican photography, Blanco has developed his own innovative style--a metamorphosis of straight documentary photographic presentation into highly personal poetic narration through imagery.

Among the favorites in the show are works by Cartier-Bresson, Laura Gilpin, Edward Curtis, Lola Bravo, Russell Lee, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Ansel Adams, Erwin E. Smith, and Marco Antonio Cruz. New finds include Richard Misrach, Hector García, Bob Wade, Jessie Herrera, Michael O’Brien, and Antonio Turok.

Exhibit Curated by Connie Todd.
